Portage County Bowling Centers

PC USBC BA represents bowlers who bowl in the following centers:  AMF Twin Star Lanes, Kent Lanes, Sky Lanes, and West's Mogadore Country Club.  Below is some information about each of these facilities.

AMF Twin Star Lanes, located at 2245 St. Rt. 59, Kent, Ohio 44240 (330-673-1800) is a 40 lane facility with synthetic surface lanes and wooden approaches and automatic scoring.  The  business is owned by AMF and managed by Keith Lang.  Keith announced a renewed effort to improve bowling conditions and reduce mechanical problems.

Twin Star hosts more than thirty leagues including men's leagues, women's leagues, youth leagues, senior leagues, and mixed leagues.  They are happy to host parties for birthdays or other occasions.  They host several tournaments throughout the year and serve as the host center for both the Rootstown and Ravenna high school bowling teams. This year Twin Star will host the regional Pepsi Tournament for youth bowlers.

Twin Star added a full service pro shop last year.

Kent Lanes, located at 1524 South Water Street, Kent, Ohio 44240 (330-673-1448) is a 24 lane facility with synthetic lanes and approaches and automatic scoring.  Owner, Jim Palmer, is particularly proud of the Pro Anvilane lanes by Brunswick.  He says these are the official lanes of the PBA and are used in the majority of the PBA events.  They feature two sets of lane markers at 33 and 40 feet, alternating light and dark boards, and highlighted fifth boards to aid bowlers in aiming and tracking their shots.  They also have anti-skid pin decks and textured approaches.

Kent's manager is Tony DeLeone and Assistant Manager is Matt Tennant.  They take care of the eighteen leagues that bowl at various times of the day and include men's leagues, women's leagues, mixed leagues, senior leagues, and youth leagues.  Kent also hosts the Kent Roosevelt high school team.  Kent hosts several tournaments, many parties, and an after school program for elementary children.

The facility includes outdoor activities including a sand volleyball court and outdoor bar.  The 11th Frame Lounge includes a projection screen for those big sports events and is a favorite of the KSU crowd.  There is a pro shop with limited hours managed by Bob Konnerth.

The structural problems with the building have been corrected and the center is now ready for bowling.

Their league schedule features ten leagues (men's, women's, and mixed) and Saturday youth bowling.  A new league this year features a shortened schedule to accommodate the golfers.

Sky hosts high school bowling for Garfield, Crestwood, and Windham High Schools.  In addition they host many fundraising events for the community.
